First of all you need to make sure that the audio are installed. In order to do that you need to head over to your manufacturer’s website and download the latest drivers from there.

Fix # 01: Automatically Update your Audio Drivers

  1. Right-click the sound icon located on the taskbar.
  2. Select sounds.
  3. Select Playback section.
  4. Choose Headphones or speakers.
  5. Go to properties. Again go to properties.
  6. On the bottom of this window, you will see the change settings option.
  7. Click it and then update your drivers.
  8. Once the download has finished, check if the problem is solved.

Fix # 02: Front Panel Jack Detection

If you have the Realtek software installed:

  1. Open it and go to the speakers tab.
  2. On the right side of this tab, select Connector Settings.
  3. Now disable the ‘Disable front panel jack detection’ option and you are good to go.

Other suggestions include making sure that the headphones are plugging into the correct port (all the way), checking that the physical headphones are not damaged in any way, that the headphones work with other devices, that the port you are plugging them into functions (try other devices).
