Guide To Fix Security Essential Error 0x80070426 in Windows 10


When user upgrade their window to windows 10, then MSE is no more, as windows include Windows Defender which replaces and take over the charge in windows 10. But sometimes, while upgrading your windows to windows 10, some problem occurs due to which windows 10 is unable to replace MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials).


MSE is still running and the “Spyware & unwanted software protection” and “Virus Protection” are turned off. Here, the error occurs, when user want to turn the “disable protection” ON, then Microsoft security client display an error message:

“An error has occurred in program initialization. If this problem continues, contact your system                                       administrator. Error code: 0x80070426”


Methods To Fix Security Essential Error 0x80070426

Step 1: Simultaneously press windows + R key to open run dialogue box.

Step 2: Type “taskmgr” in the run dialogue box.


Step 3: In task manager, find the “(WinDefend)” and right click on it and then select the “stop” option to stop the windows defender.

Step 4: Now, the windows defender is disabled and you can uninstall MSE or any other program before restarting your computer. because after restarting your computer will enable windows defender again and you will not be able to uninstall MSE or any other program.

Step 5: Open the control panel and then select “program & features” and locate the “Microsoft Security Essentials” and uninstall it by clicking on “Uninstall a program” option.

Step 6: Restart your computer and then go to settings->Update & Security. Click on “Windows Defender” and turn the “Real-time protection” On.

Step 7: Also make sure that Windows defender is running by going to “task manager” and then by clicking on “Service” tab.
